What draws me to sculpture is the idea of making something real. Something physical. 2d art is simply a representation of an idea or a form that COULD be made real with enough work, but the image itself is not "real". Your mind can enter and wander around in an image but your physical body cannot touch or fully experience the form. 2d art is something that makes me pretend and pulls me into my mind. Whereas when I am sculpting I can express my soul through touch and something that I cannot doubt it's existence. It is a viable form. It is much like the difference between drawing out plans of a house and being in one. A sculpture is a for of "life" or reality that one can create. It is a bending of the world's elements into another form. I believe that is why I get far greater satisfaction out of sculpture than with a painting or drawing. I would far rather have something I can touch and hold than something that I can only experience in my mind.
